Grand Canyon

I am just home from a whirlwind 5 nights in Las Vegas. The highlight for me was our trip to the Grand Canyon. With so many tours to chose from it can be overwhelming finding the right trip for you.

As we were limited on time I knew I wanted to visit by light aircraft or helicopter. The journey from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon can be up to 4 hour drive. Dependent on what part you wish to visit. The most common areas being the West or South Rim. The South rim is more scenic with more wildlife to be seen however you need to check that this will be open when you plan to visit. We decided on the West Rim Canyon landing. The Weather whilst there was pretty cold due to the polar vortex that has most of the USA in its grips! The day we visited the Grand Canyon the South Rim was actually closed due to the snowfall.

The West rim is located on the Hualapai Indian Reservation where you will find several attractions including the Sky Walk.

We decided to book our trip for our first day and Im so glad we did. We were wide awake at 4am with the time difference so after an early breakfast and flutter in the casino we were ready to be picked up at 7am. Our first stop was the man made wonder Hoover Dam built during the Great Depression.

From here we crossed the boarder into Arizona to pick up our helicopter.

We had a 30 minute helicopter ride across to the Hualapai Indian Reservation where we landed in the Canyon for a champagne picnic. Its so hard to describe the feeling once you land as it is so vast and huge. I found it so overwhelming and definitely a bucket list moment!

Now you wont find any cruises departing from Las Vegas but its a great add on to any cruise with so many internal flights in the USA. So next time you are cruising from America why not add on a 4 night stop in Las Vegas before or after.
