This is a subject I have written about many times over the years so I’m over the moon to hear that Royal Caribbean are the first cruise line to finally introduce lifeguards on board.
Licensed lifeguards will not have any other role onboard, their sole purpose will be to focus on water safety. They will be clearly visible in Red/White Shirts and at least one lifeguard will be stationed at every pool during opening hours. A 15-minute water safety presentation will also be held at the Adventure Oceans club on Embarkation day.
The program started on Oasis and will be added to 14 ships by mid-April and rolled out across the entire fleet by 15th June 2017.
Hats off to you Royal Caribbean for protecting your most precious cargo.
Let hope other cruise lines follow suit so all children can be safe at Sea.
