Culinary Delights onboard Koningsdam

Recently I wrote about my trip to see the Koningsdam in Amsterdam and my thoughts on this impressive ship.

As I mentioned last time, I was very impressed with the variety of both free and specialty dining venues on board so this week I would like to look at some of the venues that stood out to me the most.

CULINARY ARTS CENTER

arts

Present by Food & Wine magazine the Culinary Arts comes with an impressive show kitchen where guests can enjoy cooking demonstrations from celebrity Chefs and the ships own experts whilst trying there hand at the individual cooking stations.

At night the Arts Center turns in to a farm to table dining experience where guests can enjoy each course as its freshly prepared.

GRAND DUTCH CAFE (Deck 3)

Grand Dutch The place to enjoy a pale beer while endulging  in classic dutch snacks such as pickled herring and Veal Ragout.  The food here is free but you pay for beverages.

LIDO MARKET (Deck 9)

During our tour the Chefs were preparing for lunch and this was by far my favorite food venue on Board. Instead of a classic Buffet Holland America are offering a modern market with a huge selection and a variety of themed stations such as:

  • Breadboard, where the aroma of freshly baked breads and pastries will fill the air
  • Wild Harvest, offering a bountiful selection of salads
  • Homestead, serving up comfort classics
  • Distant Lands, featuring flavors from around the world
  • Sweet Spot, for delightful ice cream creations and desserts
  • Market Central, continental breakfast or light meals to grab on the go
  • Roasting Pan, hand-carved meats, fish and other heartier entrees
  • Perk, freshly brewed coffee, hot and iced tea, and chilled juices
  • Quench, premium beer, wine, and sodas

MARKET1SEL DE MERSEL DE MAR

Meaning Sea salt in French “Sel De Mer” a lovely intimate restaurant, the perfect venue to enjoy a classic french meal of Fresh fish and Shell Fish all displayed on ice in the center of the restaurant and where ever possible chefs will go ashore and bring back the local fish of the day.

As you can see by the menu Sel De Mer is  by no means a cheap dining option but ideal for that special birthday or Anniversary.menu1
