Azamazing Experience

I have just return from a short trip on board Azamara Quest and wow what a ship!

Azamara was launched back in 2007  which happens to be the same year I started at cruise.co.uk so I’ve away’s felt we started our journey in to cruise at the same time but up until now I had never been lucky enough to experience them for myself.

Our journey started in Southampton where we board the Azamara Quest for a two night voyage over to Amsterdam.

Check in was fast and efficient and within 20 mins of arriving we had a glass of champagne in hand and were being shown to our staterooms by a lovely attendant.

We stayed in an ocean view stateroom on Deck 4 and first impressions were great. The cabin itself was very spacious equipped with sofa area, Mini bar (soft drinks included at no extra cost) and some nice little extra’s like binoculars, umbrella and fresh fruit. The newly refurbished cabins are decorated very tastefully with calm neutral colours. The only draw back for me was the size of the bathrooms. Having just a shower was fine but I feel the cubicle are a little small which could be problematic for some people.

As I mentioned in my previous blog my niece Shanon accompanied me on the trip and this was her first time on board a ship so we couldn’t wait to go and  explore and we were not disappointed. Every part of the ship oozes sophistication and elegance and although it is a very modern it still manages to keep some of the more traditional features as seen with the beautiful staircases.

Feeling a little peckish after exploring the ship we decided upon a snack at The Patio.  A perfect option for a light snack or as we tried out on disembarkation day a delicious burger!!

We dined as a group on our first evening in the Discoveriers dining room which was a wonderful experience. The variety and choices available were fantastic and I have to say this it was one of the best menu’s I have seen with any cruise line.

After dinner we were joined by a a lovely couple who told us this was there 47th cruise with Azamara and you could tell they had a real bond with all the staff on board.

Our group could not stop laughing when they went on to tell us that every time they start a cruise with Azamara the staff play pranks on them as you can see below.

I thought this was hilarious. Can you imagine checking in to your cabin to be find everything wrapped like new and this message from your cabin steward? Who said including gratuities in to the cruise cost would cause a drop in service levels??

This really sealed it for me with Azamara, attentive staff with a sense of humour, great service, fantastic food and an all inclusive drinks menu. All on board a stylish elegant ship that’s just the right size. This is my kind of ship!

Next time we get invited to the Bridge and have an Azamazing Night!
