Will It Be An Indian Summer ?

Well it`s August 1st today which means summer is almost over, but then we haven`t really had a summer this year as the weather has been so bad. I noticed last night as I let the dog out before he went bed that it was nearly dark, it was only 9.15pm! Dark nights are approaching and it will soon be Christmas dare I say it.

However could we be heading for an Indian Summer ? September is quite often one of the nicest months of the year and, even if we don`t get warm weather here at home, a cruise to the Eastern Mediterranean would surely mean lovely sunny days and warm evenings. There will be plenty on offer but looking through what is available  his one with Norwegian Cruise lines seems pretty good.

Norwegian Jade sails from Venice on 3rd September for 7 nights calling in at Corfu, Santorini, Mykonos and Katakalon before returning into Venice. The ship is what is now probably called a medium size ship carrying around 2400 passengers. I`ve only sailed once on a Norwegian Cruise Lines ship but I was impressed, especially with the food and entertainment. Several speciality restaurants on board will allow you to treat yourself to some great meals. The itinerary is pure Greek Island delight! Corfu has always been a favourite of mine but I have never visited Katakalon, Mykonos or Santorini. The small island of Santorini is somewhere I have always wanted to go. The iconic pictures of the blue and white houses are so typically Greek. Lying 200km from the Mainland it is the most Southerly of the Cyclades Islands. The island was devastated by a volcanic eruption in the 16th century which shaped its now rugged landscape. Its 2 main towns Thira and Oia, tower above on the cliffs formed by the eruption and gaze down on an underwater crater, overlooking the clear blue waters of the Aegean and its pink pebble beaches.
