What Will You Spend Your On Board Credit On?

Winter is here, the snow is falling and we all need something to look forward to during ths winter months, What better time to book your next cruise ! Especially as there are some really good offers on at the moment with extras such as car parking, coach transfers and on board credit to tempt you to book.

On board credit is one of the most popular choices, but what to spend it on ? Maybe a spa treatment or two, a little shopping in the boutiques on board or that excursion you have always wanted to do but felt it was a little epensive. Now, being a food lover, my choice would be to treat myself to one of the speciality restaurants you will find on board most cruise ships today.

I have recentky returned froma mini cruise to Bruges on P&O Oceanaand was lucky enough to eat in both speciality restaurants on board, Marco Pierre White`s Cafe Jardin and the Horizon Grill. Cafe Jardin has a cover charge of around £ 7.50 per person  and the Horizon Grill is £ 11 per person, both well worth the little  extra.

I was surprised to find that Cafe Jardin is a truly Italian Restaurant serving great pizza, pasta and Caesar Salad to die for!, I had expected something more ” Hell`s Kitchen ” style from Marco Pierre! The food ws delicious and the service and atmosphere very good.

My favourite, though, was the Horizon Grill . As the names suggests, this is an intimate al fresco restaurant at the top of the ship, serving grilled meats and fish  – it was too cold to sit outside in December though!

The food is steaks, lamb, chicken and fish beautifully cooked and presented, the service was excellent if a little slow and the deserts were delicious – I had sizzling strwaberries – gorgeous, no diet for me that night.

If you like burgers, and have a large appetite, try the Bison Burger – it is enormous, the largest burger I have ever seen.

Speciality dining is something I would do on any ship as it makes a lovely change from eating in the main restaurant, even better when you have some on board credit to pay for it !
