The Cake Boy

Its Bank Holiday weekend and lovely to have two days off – even if it is raining. Today I have two Celebrity Chefs visiting my kitchen – Delia Smith and Eric Lanlard, not in person of course, just in book form to give a helping hand with the cooking.

Tomorrow my friend and I are going our friend Graham`s new horse Hermes, he`s beautiful apparently, and then we are having lunch at  his house. My friend is doing the starter which is Delia`s Chicken Liver Pate with Cognac. The liver has been marinating in cognac since yesterday and there will be a little too, port just in case its not strong enough ! Delicious with fresh French baguettes.

My task is the pudding and this is where Eric Lanlard will be helping me. Eric is a Master Patisserie who has had several TV shows, Baking Mad and Glamour Puds being two of them. His London luxury, but relaxed, cake boutique set on the river in Battersea Reach just happens to be in the same building as Graham`s London apartment. When visiting last year we went to the Cake Boy and had wonderful cup cakes. He also made Graham`s 50th birthday cake for him – in the shape of a jockey`s cap.

Unfortunately Eric was not there that day but later sent Graham home with a signed copy of his book Home Bake, and a Cake Boy Apron for me. So today I am going to try two recipes from his book – Lime and Lemon Drizzle Cake and Flour Free Orange and Lavender Cake. I doubt they will be as good as Eric makes them but I`m going to have a go !
