Bluebell Sunday and Mr Pheasant

When I first worked in travel as a Thomson Overseas Representative the only holiday I considered worth taking was 14 nights on a beach somewhere warm and sunny. No less than 14 was even worth considering, neither was a cruise or a holiday in the UK!

I came back tote UK and started to work in travel, eventually specialising in cruise, and was bitten by the bug but still wouldn`t really look at anything less than 10 or 12 days and the UK was still a definite no go area for a week or a day or whatever !

Now it might be an age thing, I`m not sure but over the last couple of years my attitude has changed completely. Short breaks in Norfolk with the doges are a regular event, they love the sea and beach.

Oceana for  4 nights last New Year was a brilliant mini cruise – we`ve all booked it again for 2015 before the prices go up, which they definitely will. I have also enjoyed weekends and Bank Holidays at home as I beginning to think I have a  nature reserve in my back garden !

I live in a small village in Northamptonshire and last Sunday was Bluebell Sunday, the woods were packed with visitors looking at the stunning display. Not the day for us locals to pay a  visit of course, its far too busy, so a day at home was the best option, the weather was beautiful and I`m lucky enough to have plenty of things in the garden to keep me occupied.

Ice, of course, was loving the sun and the lambs in the field next door. We also have a huge variety of birds including Goldfinch, Bullfinch, Tree Creepers, Robins, Blackbirds and two beautiful Great Spotted Woodpeckers! The female visits every day, she is very shy but gorgeous and loves peanuts.

A Muntjac lives over the fence at the bottom of the garden but the funniest member of our animal kingdom is Mr Pheasant! He arrives every day at 8am in the morning , lunchtime and about5pm and he squawks and squawks for his food.

He is gorgeous and has little blue-green ears! He is quite tame and the challenge is to get him eating out of our hands – literally! I`ll let you know how we get on !
