At Last I Am Going To See Carnival Sunshine

There are lots of good things about my job here at cruise.co.uk but one of the best things is getting the opportunity to see the many cruise ships that we sell. I have been lucky enough to travel to many countries and cruise and lots of different ships but I have never seen or been on one from the Carnival line.

Back in April I was offered the chance to sail on one of the inaugural voyages of Carnival Sunshine, the newest addition to their fleet, but the trip was cancelled at the last minute as she was not ready to set sail.

The trip has now been rescheduled and we we will be flying from Gatwick to Pisa on 1st July to embark the ship for a 2 night mini cruise taking in Rome and disembarking in Naples on 3rd July.  There is now better way to experience a cruise liner than to sail on her, and Carnival will be very different to any ship I have been on before.

She is quite large carrying around 3000 passengers and has about 10 dining venues. One of the features I am looking forward to seeing most is the Serenity Adult Retreat. A dream vacation has to include a little “me time” This was  what Carnival we had in mind when they created Serenity. It’s an adult only area available to guests 21 and older and features everything necessary to create the perfect tranquil experience on board. You can take advantage of complete bar service provided by attentive waiters, chill in the sun, under one of the colourful, oversized umbrellas or in the separate shaded area. There are also whirlpools looking out over the sea. All while listening to mellow music to keep the atmosphere calm and serene. Sounds perfect!

It will only be a short trip and then back to the office for me, but I am now even luckier to have anther trip just a few days after Sunshine, the complete opposite in fact! I shall be heading back to Rome to board the destination cruise line Voyages to Antiquity ship Aegean Odyssey.

We will be visiting Rome, Sorrento and Palermo and this is something I am really looking forward to, as Sorrento especially, is one of my favourite places.

the comparison between the 2 ships will be very interesting indeed !
