A Few Of My Favourite Things !

Sounds like a line from the Sound of Music! A few my favourite things, my friends, food, dining out , my dog ( of course ), holidays and crusing, and my favourite thing relating to holidays and cruising is dining out.

Bosacstel 4

I have just returned from a few days in Cornwall where the weather was surprisingly good as was the food. Boscastle is a lovely village and very close to Padstow where we all went for lunch at Rick Stein`s Seafood Restaurant. The food, service, atmosphere were all excellent, you can see why this has been such a successful restaurant for many years.

Food on cruise ships always get varied reviews, from brilliant to awful. Personally I have always found the food to be excellent but I always like to try the speciality restaurants on board, even though there is a cover charge, and over the next couple of months I will get he chance to try this on three ships I have never sailed on before.

NCL Cruises - Norwegian Escape

On 28th October I will be staying overnight on the brand new Norwegian Escape in Southampton. I have never been on a Norwegian Cruise Lines ship so this really is a first for me and I am looking forward to trying Cagney`s Steakhouse, no doubt huge American ribeye will be the order of the day ! There are several other speciality options on the ship such as Teppanyaki, Le Bistro, La Cucina , Food Republic and Moderno Churrascaria, as well as Tapas Bar, on a seven night cruise you could try a different one every night!

FOOD

At the end of October I will be doing a short 2 night cruise from Barcelona to Gibraltar on the lovely Azamara Journey. Apart from the main dining room and buffet restaurants there are also two speciality options – Aqualina, serving contemporary Italian cuisine, and Prime C Steakhouse. I think we will again be spoilt for choice. These two carry a $ 25 per person cover charge but should be well worth it.

Finally I will be doing the four night New Year Cruise on Ventura, and she has the restaurant I am most looking forward to trying – Atul Kocchar`s Sindhuu, where the menu offers a combination of Indian and British food. Hopefully the perfect venue for New Year`s day .
