MSC launches Meraviglia – WOW.

Last week officially saw MSC Cruises take delivery of MSC Meraviglia. The handover of the super ship was attended by Mr Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic and other high-level dignitaries from the French government.

A few colleagues were lucky enough to get on board on her first sailing from the port of Le Harve and experience just what she has to offer. The pictures look incredible with MSC introducing some really cool new features and well as offering Cirque du Soleil at Sea show, 12 dining venues serving a rage of international dining options including five speciality restaurants and a Mediterranean-style promenade featuring multiple bars, restaurants and shops, as well as the longest LED Sky Screen at sea showing different scenes overhead throughout the day and night, I saw a video of this and it is certainly different!

I think MSC have done an incredible job, designing a ship that looks this fresh and modern. It really does stand out and is a great benchmark for their future plans with so much in the pipeline, it’s exciting times for the Italian giants.

At over 170,000 tonnes and a guest capacity of over 5,700, MSC Meraviglia is both the biggest ship to ever be built by a European ship owner – MSC Cruises – and the biggest to come into service in 2017. She is also one of the six new ships due to come into service between 2017 and 2020 under the Company’s industry-unprecedented investment plan. Four of these six vessels will be built by STX France, further reinforcing a long-standing partnership that has already produced all 13 vessels in MSC Cruises’ fleet, allowing the Company to grow by 800% from 2003 to 2013.
