Reasons to River

I have noticed such a big increase in calls that I take with people looking to try a river cruise for the first time. People who have ocean cruised on many occasions and are now looking for something a bit different with a more unusual itinerary are turning to the rivers as a fresh , new way travel.
For all of you who have been contemplating a cruise and still unsure let me give you a few good reasons why a river cruise could be right up your street.

1.      EASY PEASEY

Being on a river cruise is like being in a floating hotel just simply hop on and unpack and straight away watch the cities and villages as you meander down the river.  Once you arrive in your designated city no long coach transfers or Tenders as you mostly Moore up in the centre of the city you are visiting.

2. ALL INCLUDED

Many of the river lines include much more in there costs so not only food but also excursions, wine, beer or soft drinks with dinner or with lunch and dinner and gratuities.

3. NO SEA SICKNESS

If you are a sensitive sailor and can get a touch of sea sickness on the oceans then it’s all smooth sailing on board the rivers. No choppy seas leaving you a bit green around the gills.

4. WORLD RIVERS

River cruises are not just your European destinations as there are also some far more exotic options such as the Mekong in Cambodia , Vietnam and Laos , the Yangtze in China and Ayeyarwady in Myanmar. The worlds your oyster.

5. ROOM WITH A VIEW

All cabins on river vessels are outside and most are on decks two and three. Most have large picture windows or French balconies so you will never miss out on the views and no worry of feeling claustrophobic.

6. NO FLYING

European river cruise are perfect if you don’t want to fly as it’s easy to pick up a Eurostar train or jump on a ferry. If you want to make the most of the journey you could even take the train all the way to Budapest or Vienna.

7. SMALL AND FRIENDLY

The size of the river cruise vessels is very much governed by the length and width of the locks that they have to get through. Most hold between 100 and 200 passengers which is just perfect for those of you who like the atmosphere of small ships and a more intimate level of service. The dining is open so allows you to sit with new friends each evening and unwind.

8. ALL EARS

The best River companies provide you with Quietvox receivers and earphones so you can hear what the guides are saying without having to stand around in a crowd. You will never miss any narration or any interest bits of the city you are visiting.

I hope these little pointers are a help in you making a decision if a river cruise is for you and any more tips or further questions then just give me a call and we can talk rivers.
