Cruising… the new way to find love.

Forget Match. Com, forget bars and clubs, forget Cilla Black, going on a cruise holiday is the new way to find love apparently.

I read a very interesting article in the paper and it explained that cruising is no longer just for married couples and families but more and more young and single travellers are taking to the seas, with many using it as a way to find love.

Anyone who hasn’t been living under a rock for the last few years will realise that social media is a big thing and with internet forums allowing travellers to chat online and dating apps allowing passengers to arrange to meet up once on-board it makes it easy to get to know people before you’ve even set foot onoard.

In a recent survey it was revealed that 80,000 of us decided to go it alone on a cruise last year which is 5% of the 1.6 million that went last year.

This is something that obviously the cruise lines are taking note of with the likes of the big, newer ships having solo cabins on-board.

Royal Caribbean’s Anthem Of the seas has 28 solo cabins and Ncl’s Escape which will be making her debut in October 2015 will have studios with their own private areas for solo travellers where they can meet up have a drink and mingle.

I am so glad that more and more singles are traveling on a cruise and I always think it’s such a fantastic way to travel when you are on your own.

You have everybody around you so you don’t feel lonely and the added benefit of being safe and secure without worrying about going out at night on your own. You can sit with other like-minded singles at dinner and chat and make some real lifelong friends or even better a romance may be found!!

I think once you get on-board and you get relaxed into your surroundings you feel a lot more comfortable talking to people and making an effort to get to know them.

It’s a way of holidaying on your own but never being alone and I think cruising really takes the fear out of travelling alone for some people.

So if you’re single and ready to mingle then get yourself booked on a cruise and start doing some bonding on-board.
