And you thought you loved cruising !!!

You know the feeling where you’ve had such a fantastic time on board your cruise and you just don’t want to get off and go home, well one man has overcome this problem by bringing the cruise ship home with him …..Genius!!!!!

Peter Knego who lives in California was so In love with the Aureol , a flagship of Elder Dempster Line that when she went into retirement and was to be broken up and sent to the scrapheap he jumped into the rescue.

He managed to get hold of enough of her fixtures and fittings to fill a shipping container which included things such as a mahogany bar, tiger – maple panelling, cabinets, chairs and light fixtures and then went and installed the lot in his home.

The procedure was quite lengthy taking a lengthy 8 weeks to move covering Mumbai, Singapore and Los Angeles!! He painstakingly cleaned everything piece by piece and started to transform his home to a cruise ship on land.
Not long afterwards he acquired all the brass bridge equipment from the former Ivernia, originally owned by Cunard Line; Italian ceramics, paintings, brass panels and furnishings from the Greek cruise ships Stella Solaris and Stella Oceanis; etched glass panels and doors from former Canadian Pacific liner Empress of Canada; shipyard plans and blankets from the former Windsor Castle, and cutlery, china and crystalware from numerous other ships.
I wonder if he has dinner at a set dining time every evening and does he make little towel animals for his bed on the evenings.?????

(Dinner in your cruise ship dining room.)

(Settling down to sleep with your porthole window …how your bedroom could look-minus the sea!!)

What ship would you like to steal bits from and have at home? I would like the gravity bar from the Allure of the seas to take me from my lounge to my loft and back again while sipping on a Martini please
The closest I will get to converting my home is having Captain Birdseye in the freezer I’m afraid !!
