What lies ahead for Azamara Journey and Quest?

Azamara have held a special place in my heart since I cruised on board the Journey what must have been about six years ago now. It was my first cruise experience on board such a small ship, my first taste of a luxury cruise line….off I went to explore Norway & Iceland and I fell in love with the ship, the cruise line and everything about it. I think if I had to choose my favourite most memorable cruise trip this would be the one. So it was with great interest I read that both ships, Journey & Quest are set to go into dry dock for what Azamara are describing as “extensive changes” , they promise that no area of the ships will be “untouched”.  Sometimes a ship will go into dry dock and return to the water with passengers unsure of the changes that are made, Azamara are going to make sure this isn’t the case this time, from cabins and suites, to restaurants and bars, to the salon and the spa, this make over is going to be one that you will certainly know about!

The changes are planned for early next year, first will be Journey who will enter dry dock in January 2016 followed by Quest in April 2016. So just what are the plans for the two 690 passenger ships?

Dining on board Azamara Journey I remember was amazing.  I loved the restaurant and the food was the best I have experienced on any cruise line. There is going to be a new Asian speciality restaurant, Kibo, introduced on board, this will be open in the evening and will be an a la carte experience with dishes from  Japan, Vietnam, Thailand and Korea.

The pool side grill will also be expanded and this will include a new outdoor dining room, I always think there is nothing better than al fresco dining so I’m sure this will be a popular addition to the dining options on board. Discoveries , the main restaurant will see some small changes but not extensive as this has already been updated in a previous re fit.

There will be big changes for the Looking Glass, again I loved this area when I cruised with Azamara, high up on deck ten with the most amazing views out to sea. This was a place to relax with a glass of wine or a beer during the day and where you could enjoy the live band in the evening. There is going to be a new wine & tapas bar added…I like the sound of this and sure passengers will too. Something a little bit different on board and who doesn’t like wine and tapas!

The Sanctum will be the new spa on board which will include two huge spa suites, there will be an acupuncture clinic and also a Medi -Spa added.  Relaxation and pampering yourself on board your Azamara cruise is what it’s all about and the Spa is going to be the place to do this in luxury.

Not only are the guest areas going to be re vamped and re styled but so are the cabins and the suites. There will be new duvets and pillows, new tv’s, new furniture and I’m sure they will be even more stylish than before. The bathrooms will all be updated and modernised. The largest suites on board will also get a full make over….I’m sure they will look even more fantastic than they already are.

Since my last cruise with Azamara I have wanted to go back and crusie with them again…even more so now! I’m looking forward to the photos and more news on the re fit and of course I will keep you updated as more details come through.

Thanks for reading as always Abbi x
