Menorca here I come!

This week I thought I’d share my excitement with you….I’m off to Menorca on holiday with my family later this week and I honestly can’t wait. It’s been a long time coming and now finally it’s here we’re all so happy. My little girl is beyond excited, every day she asks how many more sleeps?  She got her little trunkie suit case out and is ready to go.

This will be the first time my little girl has been on a plane so when I was booking our break the short flight was a definate attraction, we’ll take lots of activities to keep her busy and hopefully it will pass by without too much drama….although drama seems to follow Sofia…as it does with alot of 4 year olds I’m sure!

When I was much younger and I say much younger, almost 15 years ago now, I worked in Menorca for 3 summers. I can honestly say it’s one of my favourite places in the world, it holds lot of special memories for me and it’s a really beautiful island and just perfect for families. I can’t wait to go back and see just how much it’s changed. I know on the island there is a law which mean the hotels can’t be built above a certain height, which means no high rise hotels! Menorca was always such a pretty island as I remember it so I’m really hoping it’s not been spoilt.

We’ve chosen to stay in the resort of Calan Bosch, on the west coast of Menorca. From memory the island from one end to the other is only about an hour’s drive and it is so easy to get around. There are lots of beautiful beaches  off the beaten track that you can explore, white sands and crystal clear waters. One of my favourite places in Menorca is the town of Ciutadella, a typical Menorquian town, with a really pretty marina, lots of amazing restaurants and great shops too. Mahon on the opposite side of the island is worth a visit too, this is where the cruise ships dock when visiting the island.

I’m looking forward to a week of relaxation, sunshine, lots of great food and some special family time!  The only thing I have to do now is to get our suitcases packed and we’re ready to go….I’ll be sure to take lots of photos so look out for my next blog and see what we got up to.
