Thomson buy their second Royal Caribbean ship!

After purchasing their latest ship Tui Discovery from Royal Caribbean, Thomson have just announced they have bought a second ship from Royal Caribbean, Legend of the Seas.  May 2017 will see Tui Discovery 2 join their fleet.

Legend of the Seas will be 22 years old when she joins Thomson, very old in comparison to all the brand new super liners being launched from other cruise lines but I think a great addition to Thomson. Royal Caribbean did carry out lots of work on the ship a few years ago whilst she was in dry dock and even though an older ship she still has so much to offer passengers.

Legend of the Seas, or Tui Discovery 2 as she will soon be called is a mid-size cruise ship carrying around 1800 passengers which is a great contrast again to the huge ships around at the moment. I think the cruise market needs the smaller and mid-size ships, and remember bigger isn’t always better!

I think one of the main attractions for Thomson guests will be the large number of balcony cabins available. If you have sailed with Thomson previously you will know due to the size and age of the ships, there are very few balcony cabins if any…guests wanting upgraded accommodation can choose deluxe ocean view cabins and a there are suites to choose from but very little with balconies. From a guest point of view this is great news especially in that the ship will be sailing Mediterranean itineraries, perfect for that balcony cabin.

There will also be the famous rock climbing wall, well known on the Royal ships, an outdoor movie screen, indoor swimming pool and lots more great features. All great news for Thomson fans.

I think Thomson cruises will be a great choice with the 2 new ships from Royal Caribbean and I’m sure the loyal Thomson guests will be impressed with the new ships. Just recently I have found myself booking more and more Thomson cruises. They are such good value for money and offer lots of regional airport departures which is a refreshing change from most other cruise lines. So with regional flights and transfers included, gratuities included which is a big plus for them, drinks packages available at discounted prices or included if you book at the right time what’s not to like about Thomson.

Another great plus for Thomson cruises are their cruise and stay packages, whether it be a week on board your med cruise and then off to a hotel in Palma or Cyprus or perhaps the Caribbean and then a stay in Barbados there are lots of great cruise and stay packages to choose from.

What do you think? Have you cruised with Thomson before? Can you recommend them? Are you looking for a Thomson cruise…then get in touch I would love to hear from you.

thanks for reading as always Abbi x
