Princess Cruises Unveils Brand New Ship, the Sun Princess!

Princess Cruises, known for delivering innovative guest experiences at sea, has revealed details of their largest ship ever built, the all-new Sun Princess!

First in Princess Cruises’ new Sphere Class, the Sun Princess will be making its grand debut in early 2024.

Eagle-eyed cruise fans may have recognised that the new ship is in fact the third to be honoured with the Sun Princess name, adding to the legacy of the first Sun Princess ship sailing from 1974 to 1988 and the second ship sailing from 1995 to 2020.

Innovative entertainment spaces

The brand-new, 175,500-ton, 21-deck ship boasts a range of inviting and expansive spaces, including an epic Piazza and cutting-edge, entertainment venue, named The Dome.

The Dome is a multi-level covered space which will be a first for the industry, as the glass-enclosed dome will be the first ever constructed on a cruise ship.

Indoor and outdoor pools, a water feature, and areas to relax and unwind in will all be housed in The Dome. At night, the space will be transformed into an incredible entertainment venue which will stage stunning aerial performances.

The Sun Princess will also feature a Piazza spanning three stories, which will include an LED screen in the centre to show live entertainment, and will house comfortable seating areas for guests to enjoy views over the ocean.

For coffee-lovers, a brand new coffee shop will be available on board, Coffee Currents, alongside fan favourite eateries such as Alfredo’s Pizzeria and Crooners Bar.

Stand out suites and staterooms

The Sun Princess can accommodate a whopping 4,000 guests across 2,157 staterooms, including 50 suites and 100 connecting rooms. More outdoor balcony space will be available on board the Sun Princess, and all balcony staterooms will include an in-room sofa.

A new level of suite accommodation will also be launching exclusively on the Sun Princess, the Signature Collection. The all-new suites will have access to the Signature Restaurant, Signature Lounge, and Signature Sun Deck, a private area of the Sanctuary.

Sun Princess is a new and bespoke ship platform, designed to simultaneously embrace Princess heritage while boldly pressing into the future with iconic, elegant and pure lines unique to our brand.

A show-stopping, first-of-its-kind Dome on the top deck and suspended glass Piazza in the center of Sun Princess offer innovative designs showcasing expansive ocean views for incredible opportunities to connect with the sea.

John Padgett, Princess Cruises president

Princess Cruises have also revealed that its Club Class accommodations will now be called the Reserve Collection. This change will be reflected across the entire Princess fleet.

The collection will include Reserve Collection Cabana staterooms, stylish, resort-style cabins which will have access to a private cabana, balcony and the Reserve Collection Restaurant.

As well as the incredible new amenities and venues on board, the Sun Princess is one of 11 new Carnival Corporation vessels which will be powered by Liquified Natural Gas fuel technology.

Guests on board the Sun Princess will also be able to access the innovative, personalised Princess Medallion service. Passengers receive a wearable device which enables them to order food and beverages wherever they are on board, access speedy Wi-Fi, touch-free boarding and much more.

The Sun Princess will set sail on its inaugural season in 2024 with several Mediterranean itineraries, followed by Western and Eastern Caribbean voyages out of Port Everglades, Florida later in the year.
