Everything You Need To Know About P&O Cruises New Ship…Iona

It’s everything you’ve been waiting for, all the details we know about P&O Cruises Iona ahead of her debut in May 2021. Iona will be the largest ship ever made for a British market, accommodating 5,200 passengers and 1,800 crew. Iona will offer the ultimate luxury cruise experience while also being P&O Cruises most environmentally friendly ship. There will never be a dull moment onboard Iona, with a vast range of adult and family-friendly activities on offer. P&O Cruises have reimagined their classic cruising style ships and have introduced a range of firsts at sea for Iona.

P&O Cruises have partnered with three local Food Heros to create a unique range of food experiences exclusively for Iona. Kjartan Skjelde is a Norwegian chef and restauranter, Kjartan is a purveyor of local, seasonal produce that is at the heart of his cooking. Marte Marie Forsberg is a writer and home cook passionate about Norwegian cuisine and focuses on traditional recipes. José Pizarro is a chef and author that owns three acclaimed Spanish restaurants across London and specialises in bespoke tapas.

Ocean Studios is one for the film fanatics as the premium cinema experience offers anything from movie classics to recent blockbusters, shown over the cinema’s four screens and with surround sound and snacks.

The 710 Club is the secret haven you need to get to know. The secret haven is exclusively for adults and transforms into a sophisticated spot at night with top-class singers and bands tailored to British tastes.

P&O Cruises and Salcombe Gin have partnered up to become the first-ever Gin distillery at sea, this will be among the other first to be onboard Iona. Iona will have its own custom gin that will be distilled, bottled and labelled all on board. The distillery will also be offering two masterclasses; tastings and mixology classes. Offering passengers an opportunity to taste and create with this uniquely produced gin.

The SkyDome is one of the most unique features to Iona, and new to the cruise industry. With its glass dome roof and spacious layout, passengers will be able to soak up the natural light when present in the SkyDome. SkyDome sits on two decks; deck 16 is where you’ll find the action happening, with food and drink available, as well as a swimming pool, sun loungers and whirlpools. By day it’s a relaxation sanctuary and by night it transforms, the retractable stage offers a new venue for spectacular shows and performances.

The award-winning British designer and engineer of the SkyDome Eckersley O’Callaghan, said the following: “SkyDome is going to give guests a spectacular feeling of connection with the ocean and sky. The design is so beautiful, and the materials used to construct it are of such high quality, that I have no doubt people will be awed by it.”

From its conception, P&O knew Iona would be sailing to the Norwegian Fjords as every detail is maximised to showcase the everchanging views. The Fjords create a dramatic natural landscape that is forever changing, cruising through them is simply the best way to appreciate the snowcapped mountains. After her maiden season cruising, Iona will be heading to Spain, Portugal, the Canary Islands and on to the rest of the Mediterranean.
