Crew members onboard the cruise line’s flagship, Queen Mary 2, joined forces to celebrate the momentous coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort in true Cunard fashion.
Captain Aseem Hashmi joined the ship’s senior officers, Cunard Bellhops, chefs, housekeepers, and White Star servers on the top deck to commemorate the occasion. Hashmi previously swore allegiance to the new King as Master of Queen Mary 2 in September last year, upon the proclamation which was carried out at St. James’ Palace.
Docked in her home port of Southampton at the beginning of the Coronation Celebration voyage, crew onboard Queen Mary 2 impeccably formed the royal cypher CRII- as shown in the photo above. This was a special tribute to Cunard and His Majesty The King, who is now Lord High Admiral of the United Kingdom Royal Navy & Merchant Navy.

All three Cunard Queens will be marking the coronation with royal festivities across the weekend, as well as broadcasting the ceremony live from Westminster Abbey into their Royal Court Theatres and guest stateroom TVs. Other regally themed entertainment will include coronation street parties in the Grand Lobbies, themed musical performances, films and quizzes.
Cunard’s royal connections are well established, dating back to 1861, when Prince Albert sailed from Halifax to Liverpool on Cunard’s SS Arabia. More recently, however, Cunard proudly continue to build these connections, with members of the royal family having graced each of the ships in its fleet.
