Jo's Cruise Jollies

A little cruise for a big birthday.

Stratford-upon-Avon is a popular tourist destination owing to its status as birthplace of William Shakespeare.

This weekend is a very special weekend in the Cunningham family as it is my Mum’s 70th birthday.

She started the year by saying that she just wanted to celebrate quietly and not mark it in any way, and ended up with a week’s escorted tour around Croatia last week and then family and friends celebrations this week.

We are kicking off with a ladies day out tomorrow to a small beauty parlour in Leicestershire which offers ‘Pampering  with Afternoon Tea.’ My sister in law and myself are treating my Mum and we all get morning tea, a beauty treatment and then the full afternoon tea experience.

Following this on Saturday, we are having a full day out in Stratford upon Avon with other members of the family and friends. We have a 3 hour cruise along the Avon on board a river boat, with a 3 course lunch included. We are then hoping on good weather to spend late afternoon by the river and maybe get the men in the group to hire some boats and row us ladies along.

I’m really looking forward to the next few days. I am close to my parents and they have a great circle of friends, some of whom I don’t see very often. I have had a busy month, with P&O and Cunard launching their 2019 itineraries and hurricanes in the Caribbean and typhoons in the Far East causing a lot of issues for cruise passengers so can’t wait to just sit back and enjoy the fun.
