What a monumental year 2025 has been for the world of cruising!
From the splashing debut of record-breaking "Icons" to the return of fan-favourite perks to the opening of futuristic beach clubs, exclusively for cruise guests, in the Mediterranean, 2025 has been a year of big thrills and never-ending exciting updates for cruise fans.
In this blog, we’re looking back at a year that has truly redefined cruising, highlighting some of the most unforgettable cruising moments of 2025.
The big headline for the spring was the launch of the stunning Norwegian Aqua. As the first of Norwegian Cruise Line’s "Prima Plus" class, she’s taken everything we loved about Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva and turned it up a notch. We’re talking more outdoor space, the world’s first hybrid rollercoaster/waterslide - the Aqua Slidecoaster - and even a brand-new digital sports complex.
But the news that really got our community talking was the official return of the Free at Sea perks package. Norwegian Cruise Line renamed their high-value package and simplified key components of the package, including standardising gratuities, speciality dining and Wi-Fi perks. It’s the ultimate way to enjoy the cruise line's signature style of cruising without ever glancing at your onboard account!
P&O Cruises has been busy making cruise holidays even easier to budget for. This year saw the launch of their brand-new All-Inclusive packages. Cruisers can now bundle drinks, Wi-Fi, and even speciality dining credit into one daily price. With two tiers - Classic and Deluxe- it’s never been simpler to "lock in" the cost of your holiday before you even reach the terminal.
And that’s not all! P&O Cruises also announced that two of their most beloved ships, Aurora and Arcadia, will be welcoming children on select sailings. This is a massive win for families who want to experience the traditional, mid-sized charm of these ships during the school holidays. Plus, the cruise line announced that the exotic port of Agadir, Morocco being added to Azura’s Canary Islands itineraries for 2026 and 2027 - a perfect dash of sun-kissed perfection, ideal for your winter sun fix!
Royal Caribbean has practically owned the cruise headlines this year. Not only did they launch Star of the Seas - the second in the game-changing Icon class - but they also took their land-based experiences to a whole new level.
In December 2025, the very first Royal Beach Club at Paradise Island opened its doors in the Bahamas. Imagine 17 acres of pure tropical bliss, exclusive to Royal Caribbean guests, with swim-up bars and private cabanas. And because Royal Caribbean know how much cruise fans love the Mediterranean, they’ve already announced a Royal Beach Club in Santorini for 2026! Can you imagine anything more iconic than an exclusive Royal Caribbean beach day with a view of those blue-domed churches?!
Live music fans will know how much of a big year it has been for Holland America Line (HAL)! They’ve completely overhauled their onboard entertainment, incorporating fan-favourite productions from Grand Voyages into their usual schedule of toe-tapping entertainment.
And in one of the most unique moments of the year, HAL celebrated their 150-year Dutch heritage by launching their own exclusive tulip! Unveiled at the world-famous Keukenhof Gardens, this signature bloom is a beautiful tribute to the line’s roots in Rotterdam.
MSC Cruises continues its rapid expansion with the announcement that MSC World Atlantic will officially launch in 2027. Sailing round-trip from Port Canaveral, Florida, this ship will feature seven distinct "districts," more than 40 bars and restaurants, and the incredible 11-metre Dry Slide.
It’s set to be a seamless blend of European elegance and American energy, making it a top pick for family adventures!
Cunard joined the inclusive movement in December 2025 by launching their own brand-new Signature Packages. Available for voyages departing from March 2026 onwards, these optional packages take care of drinks, Wi-Fi, and even offer speciality dining credit.
For those who enjoy the finer things in life, the Premium Signature Package offers the Premium Beverage Collection and high-speed streaming Wi-Fi, allowing you to enjoy a sensational cruise experience alongside modern conveniences.
In October 2025, Virgin Voyages shook up the industry once again with their new VoyageFair Choices pricing tiers. By introducing "Base," "Essential," and "Premium" fares, they’ve made it much easier for guests to choose exactly how much they want to include.
While service gratuities are now paid for separately, the "Always Included Luxury" (like dining at 20+ eateries and group fitness classes) remains the heart of the experience.
Celebrity Cruises thrilled fans this year by announcing that the name of their sixth Edge-class ship will be Celebrity Xcite. Expected to join the fleet in 2028, Xcite will follow the signature outward-facing design that made the Edge class world-famous.
With Celebrity Xcel having just made her grand debut this November 2025, the 'Xcite-ment' for the next evolution of this innovative Edge-class series is already building!
As we prepare to leave 2025 in our wake, the horizon for 2026 looks brighter than a Caribbean sunrise! In the next year, more exciting cruise news is set to make waves, including the debut of even more next-gen ships like Norwegian Luna and the highly anticipated Disney Adventure in Singapore.
There has truly never been a more exciting time to book your next cruise adventure and experience the joy of cruising for yourself!
