Makoto Ocean Sushi Coming to Diamond & Sapphire Princess This Autumn

Calling all sushi lovers! Princess Cruises is serving up something truly special to Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess very soon.

This autumn, the acclaimed Makoto Ocean restaurant, created by award-winning sushi master Makoto Okuwa, will debut on Diamond and Sapphire Princess, bringing the art of authentic Edomae-style sushi to guests sailing to some of the world’s most spectacular destinations, including Antarctica, Southeast Asia, and Japan.

Makoto Ocean will take over the former Kai Sushi space on Deck 7 of both ships. The 80-seat, smart-casual venue offers an intimate yet stylish atmosphere, perfect for savouring fine Japanese flavours at sea.

First launched on Sun Princess in 2024 and soon to join Star Princess this October, Makoto Ocean has quickly become a guest favourite.

Chef Makoto Okuwa, with over 25 years of experience and restaurants spanning Miami Beach, Washington D.C., Madrid, and beyond, delivers a menu that’s rooted in 1820s Tokyo tradition, yet plated with modern flair. 

Guests can expect dishes that are as artful as they are flavourful, honouring the rich heritage of Japanese cuisine while offering bold, creative twists.

On the restaurant’s tantalising new menus, guests can look forward to tasting premium sushi and signature Makoto Ocean creations, such as:

• Truffle Salmon - a luxurious twist on a sushi favourite

• Snow Crab Temaki - fresh, delicate, and perfectly rolled

• Toro Tartare - rich, melt-in-the-mouth indulgence

To sip alongside the delectable dishes on offer, handcrafted cocktails like the Genmai Negroni (a Japanese-inspired spin on the classic) and Kodai No Hana (yuzu juice and ancient-style Doburoku sake) add a refreshing, authentic touch to the dining experience.

Dining at Makoto Ocean Sushi comes at an extra cost of $60 per person, or, is included in the Princess Premier Package.
