The “Fabulous” Boudicca

Well we thought it was! Not all passengers felt the same, and some of them strong Fred Olsen fans, I think the main reason for this was the fact she had jut returned from a 77 night Amazon cruise, right before our little 5 night one, maybe something to watch for in future. All the crew were changed (some of the entertainment stayed on and left with us after the 5 nights) But it did mean lots of the crew were maybe even new to Boudicca and not quite in the swing of things until day two/three.

Anyway we set off as usual in style !!

This is what I love about the smaller ships , even when everyone is about it never seems over crowded, we had the most amazing weather for March , hitting 20’s most days , a little miserable in Amsterdam, but overall great.

It takes a bit to get me in the water, so the weather was good !!

There were no formal nights as such , but we did manage to scrub up once or twice !

The background here is Antwerp (sorry about the crane!) we were trying to get the cathedral spire in , obviously not the greatest photographers, pretty easy to get off here the houses you see behind us were literally the start of the centre, a fair walk to get off , so wear sensible shoes, reminded me very much of Amsterdam , lots of chocolate shops and quaint little restaurants. beware of the cobbled streets, I can imagine quite slippy in bad weather.

We did stop and have the required Belgium beer, we were recommended a Rib restaurant, apparently the best in Belgium , sadly it was closed , so a liquid diet it was utill we got back on board for some more lovely food.

With me being a fuss pot for eating our waiter out did himself (and for my friend) making sure none of her food had onions in , he even bought us the menu every night for the next evening so she could order and be sure , no onions!! Arnold , a legend and a true asset to the team.

My title comes from the captain who started his announcements each time with THE FABULOUS BOUDICCA and now its stuck , I thoroughly enjoyed it and would sail with her again.
