Avalon River cruise on the Seine

Well here I am sitting in the lovely French countryside right next the the beautiful Tapestry II with Avalon River cruises.

Starting in Paris after a very short flight we set off for the ship.

TOP TIP HERE

If you choose the earlier flight, your are not hanging round all day as boarding only starts @ 4pm, you are transferred to a central hotel in Paris where you will be given some nibbles and a glass of something bubbly, the hotel will then hold you luggage securely for you while you can take a wander around Paris, perhaps even a little lunch , or just to plot your last day when the ship is over night in port.

My cabin number was 206, this is with a french balcony fully sliding doors opening out, with a very good size bathroom, bigger than most ocean cruises I have been on!

This ship holds 120 passengers when fully booked , so the entrance is ample to help everyone and the public areas seated people comfortably, the only time everyone is around would be for the nightly cruise director speech, advising everyone of the excursions each day, most of these are included, some are optional and can be paid for extra, an example was the trip to Versailles for €57 pp which was a full afternoon out.

Dinner is every night @ 7pm , give or take, at least five courses, but be warned there is a very strict timetable for this, and on the first day it rankled me a little but it is very understandable, they have such a small galley area and have to keep to a smooth flow with serving each course, so if you are late there is a possibility you will miss courses. the food was excellent and there is complementary beer/wine with both lunch and dinner and of course soft drinks.

All of the staff we very polite and helpful, always very smartly dressed and informative.

There will be more about my trip to come, in the meantime if you have any questions, send me an email [email protected] and I will try and answer for you.
