P&O scrap future cruise deposits

This week P&O have ended the scheme where you can commit to a future cruise by just paying a deposit and then select which cruise you would like to book at a later date.

The deposit paid secured a number of offers including extra on board credit.

The scheme was fantastic because you can commit while on-board and then spend some time when you return home to select the cruise you would like to book.

I think that there will be a few regular P&O customers looking around at other liners after this news.

What P&O want to you do is actually commit to a specific cruise and make the booking.

Looking for exactly what you want sometimes takes time. As a cruise specialist it is my job to help and advice. Will P&O have the staff to do this on-board their ships?

Surely the deposit scheme was a quick fix and then when returning home agents just like me can then assist with selecting the right cruise.

Other cruise lines offer similar programmes.

Royal Caribbean are currently offering a 60% discount off the second person travelling if you book while on-board.

Celebrity offer some fantastic offers if you book on-board – they also offer a deposit scheme will slightly less benefits.

You can book on board with Fred Olsen and save up to 5% off the price of your cruise. Committing to a deposit will allow you extra on board credit.

Oceania have the best deals for on-board bookings. Your cruise will be discounted, you pay a low deposit and receive up to $100 on board credit. If you want to change the cruise you can make 1one change for no admin fee.
