Cunard forced to cancel the 3rd October 2012 sailing on the Queen Victoria due to engine troubles

It has been recently been announced that Cunard line have had to cancel a 16 night sailing that was due to depart from Southampton on the 3rd October 2012.

It seems that the Queen Victoria is suffering from engine troubles and Cunard have been forced to put her into dry dock under short notice the get the necessary repairs made.

We had a lot of passengers booked on this cruise here at www.cruise.co.uk and we have been trying our best to get things sorted out for them.

This must have cost Cunard a fortune as they have offered all passengers a full refund and a further 15% future cruise credit (of their original booking’s cruise tariff) off an alternative or future sailing.

Cunard are also letting passengers use their 15% future cruise credit on other brands within the Carnival group.  Some of my passengers switched to a P&O sailing and benefited from the 15% credit so things seemed to work out quite well for them.

It is a shame when things like this happen although I guess it can’t be helped, we can’t really blame Cunard for this, I am sure that this is the last thing they would of wanted to happen.
