Weekend Away

By the time you have read this, I will be making long way down from Aberdeen, my hometown, all the way back down to Swansea after a weekend away for my best friend from school’s wedding.  Now you might wonder why am I making such a long journey.  Well the answer is simple, I spent most of my life (25 years living in Aberdeen).  My mum and dad moved there before I was born and I stayed there until 2012.  The rest of my family live in Swansea so it made sense to move down here.  Anyway, history is history.   The trip itself is about a 9-10 hour drive depending on traffic and petrol, can be quite tiresome, but plenty of breaks and I will be fine.

But if you remember one of my last posts, my Dad now lives in Glasgow, so any opportunity I can get to catch up with him is taken, plus he has just come back from the Lion’s tour in New Zealand.  I did ask him to take photos of any ships docked in Auckland, but seems he was more interested in getting selfies with the rugby players.  My Dad lives in a little village called Dalry, and if it is a clear day, you can actually see the Isle of Arran from his kitchen window!

Aberdeen, as you are probably aware is not used that often for cruises, in fact it is barely used, however I was speaking to an old friend of mine, who told me that the harbour is getting a revamp to allow cruises to dock there – so you never know!  I still remember my days when I worked for Thomas Cook, we had the opportunity to have a ship visit on one of the Silverseas ship (if memory serves me right the Spirit).  Now baring in mind I had never set foot on a ship until this point, and I have to admit – I was blown away!  The standard of food, cabins, the cleanliness – everything about the ship just left me speechless.  I could probably say, that is when my love of cruising started, was from that ship visit.

And now here I am, working for cruise.co.uk selling the dream to everyone of my customers.  If you would like to check out any of our cruise deals, whether they be round the UK, or the ends of the earth towards New Zealand – click here to find your perfect holiday.

Now if you’re getting married or got married recently, why not consider a once in a lifetime cruise for your honeymoon?
