Can the Caribbean rebuild? And a day to reflect….

The answer is yes!  Despite the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma, how has now been declared a category 5 hurricane (the most dangerous grade), the devastation and carnage that has followed has been heartbreaking.  Seeing people’s homes and livelihoods destroyed is truly soul destroying.  However, we forget the Caribbean and Florida are hit by these hurricanes 5-6 months every year (albeit, not as bad as this), so they have contingency plans.  The people of the Caribbean are a culture of strong people, and I know for a fact, they will come back stronger from all this.  I have seen images of the some of the ports of call that a lot of cruise lines arrive into, and yes the damage is severe but they will rebuild, and in years to comes, this Hurricane Irma will be a thing of the past.  I still remember to this day, we were caught in torrential weather in Florida in 2009, we were thinking it was a hurricane, and then had the Americans laughing at us, as that was just a standard thunderstorm.

It’s never nice to see the damage caused by the weather, or any other forces of nature.  It does truly make you reflect on how lucky we are, I know the British weather is something left to be desired, however, I can’t imagine what everyone is going through at this time.

A number of cruise lines are having to cancel or reschedule cruises in the Caribbean for the safety of their passengers and staff due to Hurricane Irma.

As we continue to get more information on Hurricane Irma we will continue to keep you updated with any other cruise line changes.
