P&O enlisting ‘as many as ten’ celebrity chefs for Britannia’s Cookery Club

P&O’s new cruise ship will invite as many as ten celebrity chefs on board when it launches next spring, according to celebrity chef James Martin.

Interviewed during a visit to the Italian shipyard where the 142,000-ton Britannia is under construction, the Saturday Kitchen star said he himself was in talks with other chefs over the possibility of hosting classes in P&O’s new Cookery Club.

“I will be joining the ship at least once a month,” he told the Bolsover Cruise Club. “On top of that, every month we will have other chefs coming on board.”

Marco Pierre White, Eric Lanlard and Atul Kochhar have all already been confirmed as some of P&O’s ‘Food Heroes’, while Martin himself is creating 50 recipes to teach the Britannia’s more gastronomically-inclined passengers.

The BBC chef added that the fact the lessons will take place 17 decks up on the biggest cruise ship in Europe “makes this the best cookery club”.

Have P&O’s new culinary hires whet your appetite?
