P&O Announce Major Refurbishment For One Of Their Ships

August 22, 2016

P&O have announced that they will be completing a major refurbishment upon one of their vessels.

The Oriana is set to have a refit set to change everything from the cabins, suites and entertainment areas to the restaurants, bars and public areas.

The ship was first launched in 1995 and last had a face lift in 2011. The new revamp was announced by P&O in response to feedback that they had from guests.

They said: “After listening to your feedback, we’re collaborating with leading cruise-industry architects Richmond on a refit programme. We will of course be retaining Oriana’s most distinctive features, but guests can look forward to enjoying new luxurious materials, soft furnishings and carpets, upgrades to furniture, improved lighting, rich colour schemes and the ultimate in comfort and relaxation.”

The cabins will see an upgrade that introduces new soft furnishings with modern designs and reworked bathrooms and balconies.

P&O said: “We know that Oriana holds a special place in the hearts of many of our guests and we can’t wait to show you how we have spruced her up, while staying true to the integrity of this special ship.”

The adult only ship will also have changes made to the Peninsular and Oriental restaurants where there will be a new colour scheme, carpets, curtains and lighting.

We asked our resident carpet expert (our very own specialist cruise consultant Hannah!) what she thought of the refit: “I’m really excited to hear about Oriana’s refit. The new carpets are fabulous, understated elegance which will give the ship a lovely classy feel. My favourite so far is the ‘fishy’ restaurant carpet – great fun!”  You can read more from Hannah here.

The ship will be keeping her teak promenade and lido decks and retain her very classical features which set her apart from other P&O vessels.
