Independence of the Seas crew member disappears

A galley worker from India has reportedly gone missing from Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas cruise liner.

The ship is currently on a two-week trip from Southampton around the Mediterranean, with the crew member believed to have gone missing ahead of a stop in France.

According to a report by Cruise Law News, two sources have confirmed the disappearance of the crew member, but Royal Caribbean is yet to comment on the incident.

The publication claims that in the last two months, three people have gone overboard from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship without any mention of these incidents being reported either in the press or in social media.

As it was not realised that the crew member was missing until hours after they had gone overboard, the ship was already a long distance away.

The publication noted that automatic man overboard systems are important and can help to save lives in the incidence of a passenger or a crew member going overboard from a cruise liner.

Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas boasts features such as the H2O Zone waterpark and the Royal Promenade, as well as the Cupcake Cupboard.
