Saver v Select

Greetings cruisers

Yep it’s that time again for another blog, surprisingly people actually read these, however I would never know as nobody posts a remark! So is by some unbelievable chance you are reading this, please pop down your name and where you are from……………………………Please.

Right now that’s over with let’s look at P&O and Cunard’s amazing confusing fare options.

If you are looking at booking a P&O or Cunard cruise, you will be faced with the following options, and yes they can be very confusing, so let me try and explain………….

When enquiring about a P&O or Cunard cruise you should be told about the 2 options you have, see below

Saver Fare (Actually there are 3 parts to this fare)!!!!! It’s detailed so please hang in there………..

Saver Fare

You are booked on the ‘Saver’ promotion.
These may, or may not be offered on any cruise, normally closer to the departure of a cruise.
These are restricted fares and there are no additional benefits such as on board spending money, car parking or coach transfers on the ‘Saver’ promotion.
These fares also require 100% of the cost of the holiday to be paid at the time of booking
If cancelled, 100% cancellation fee will be applied
Any amendments to your booking will be treated as a cancellation
In addition, a transfer of your booking will not be permitted
Other booking conditions otherwise remain unchanged
With Saver Fares you can choose a cabin grade, but not a particular cabin number
Your cabin number will be allocated by the cruise lines at any time up to departure
You will not have a choice to a dining time, it will be confirmed once on board
Saver promotion bookings are part of the cruise line’s ‘Automatic E-Documentation Programme’ therefore all pre-cruise documentation will only be available online.

Late Saver & Early Saver

You are booked on the Early Saver promotion
These are only available on selected cruises at selected times
There are no additional benefits such as on board spending money, car parking or coach transfers on the “Early Saver” promotion
With “Early Saver” Fares you can choose a cabin grade, but not a particular cabin number
Your cabin number will be allocated by the cruise lines at any time up to departure
Dining – You will be asked for your preference of dining nearer the time of sailing, however this will not be confirmed until on board.

Select Fare

Select Price Fares benefit from all of the following advantages:
– Your choice of cabin type, location and number
– Your choice of family and single cabins
– First priority for dining choice confirmed at time of booking (subject to availability)
– One of the following benefits included in your fare:
On board spending money
or Car parking in Southampton
or Return coach travel to Southampton
or Airport parking on selected fly-cruises
– Shuttle bus Included at ports where there is a charge
– Flexibility to make amendments to, or even change your cruise entirely up to 90 days prior to departure, subject to the cruise lines booking terms and conditions.

Right there you have it, just to add, if you look at booking a saver fare on a specific grade, the cruise line are saying that this would be MINIMUM grade you could be allocated, there is a possibility you could be upgraded, I am hearing from customers that agents are saying that if you book a particular grade you will get that grade but will not know what deck or cabin number, this is not correct, as you could be upgraded to any grade above, so please take note of this.

So I hope this has cleared things up !!!!!

Anyways until the next time have a great couple of weeks.
