Search For A Sunbed!

I am sure you will all know that my lovely friends are still not converting “yet” to a cruise holiday.  That day will come but in the meantime, we have a weeks holiday staying at a hotel. As always we go to Tenerife as the weather is usually hot and we tend to meet up with other friends whilst there.

If I told you that every single morning we were up at 0630 – 0645, to get to the pool and get our beds would you believe me? It’s true!  The hotel mostly had British too so we can’t complain and say it was because of the German’s!  The sky was still black outside as we went down the numerous stairs to get to the pool, some people had torches whilst they found the bed they wanted!  I actually fell off a bridge that was over the huge pool, could not see a thing in front of me! I felt so foolish when a couple of men helped the “old woman” up!

At 0800 the hotel “police” would come around and check if everyone was on their bed, if not all of the towels etc were taken off and put on the “naughty” chair by the steps! If you left it till after 0800 you would certainly not get a sun bed in a nice position at all!  It is so silly and really why should you be doing this on holiday?

I of course, was making comparisons to cruising. I know that on a ship you sometimes do have problems in getting a sunbed but nothing like getting up in what was to us the middle of the night, watching where you were walking!  I also have to at this stage, mention the entertainment at night. So picture a huge hotel complex everyone on all inclusive, people need to have something to do in the evening, not just sit and drink.  This entertainment was naff! They had a open air area where the hotel team would entertain you with total rubbish. Miming and not very well, and the dancing? Oh dear – dreadful. Please also compare that to your cruise. Always a great show on, or a singer, dancing etc etc and you can always go to the disco if you fancy a bop. This place was so bad that not even the karaoke bar had anyone in!

For those of you who are still considering a cruise, please do one. i can guarantee you will not be using a torch for a sunbed, that’s for sure!

Till next time x
