Cabin Upgrades, Do They Happen ?

In all the years I have done my job, which by the way is way too many years to be honest, being frank it is over 27yrs, (gosh now that really does make me feel old ). Upgrades do they happen for real ? Well the answer is yes they do. I’m not saying it’s always to your liking but a free upgrade is better than nothing. Not that most see it like that but !

Any way back to the point,  I just had to share one of the best upgrades I have ever come across in all my years of selling cruises. On Friday just gone, I received a call from Royal Caribbean at about 2pm in the afternoon. Royal Caribbean had a special guest that needed to travel on the Independence Of The Seas on the 02nd September this year, which is a 14 night cruise . The only problem was though the ship was just about fully booked, they only had one Royal Family Suite available which was for 4-5 guests. This cabin would of cost over £20,000.00 to book.

Here at Cruise.co.uk, we had four guests booked in two outside cabins, which by the way had paid £1165pp approx. Royal Caribbean wanted to offer our guests the free upgrade to the Royal Family Suite. So instead of our guests having two cabins they would all be in one. Now I don’t know if you have seen the size of these cabins but they are ginormous, they have 2 bedrooms, 2 private bathrooms, cabin is 587 square foot and a massive balcony at 270 square foot, who in the right mind wouldn’t want to !

Anyway after trying to get hold of our guests, I eventually contacted them about 5pm that evening. They couldn’t believe what I was offering, they both looked at the cabin that had been offered and nearly fell off their chairs, including myself. They were totally over whelmed and jumped at the chance ( obviously ).

I spoke to Royal Caribbean, got our guests sorted in their new plush cabin and Royal Caribbean also got their special guests booked.

Moral off the story is don’t always think an upgrade is bad because you never know what might happen !

Thank goodness all worked out for all guests.
