Cruise Line ‘Conjure Up’ A Harry Potter Themed Cruise!

Harry Potter fans can now experience the Magic & Wizardry of a Harry Potter themed cruise along the Thames visiting the real-life places that feature in the hit films!

I watched the very first Harry Potter film and thoroughly enjoyed it, but I’m not an avid fan.  I lost interest when I found it difficult to pronounce some of the characters names!  However Harry Potter is undoubtedly HUGE! and an  entrepreneurial Barge company have come up with what they hope will be a money-spinning venture.

A US River Cruise firm has introduced a six day trip on its River Boat called the Magna Carta, along the River Thames visiting ports of call made famous by JK Rowlings Harry Potter films.  The company promise that the trip will be ‘magical’ and be packed full of wizardry and Hogwarts-inspired excursions.

The trip starts from the Hotel Stafford in London where guests can enjoy a classic afternoon tea, before being taken to Hampton Court Palace, which according to the cruise company is similar to Hogwarts….  They will enjoy a gourmet dinner before returning to the barge.

Next stop is Royal Windsor, to explore this beautiful town before heading to Virginia Water, where Harry encounters Buckbeak in woods by  a lake featured in Prisoner of Azkaban.

Passengers are also treated to a visit to Picket Post Close, which is the location for Harry’s ‘muggle’ home called 4 Privet Drive. then off to visit historical Cliveden House.  Now a luxury hotel, but once the haunt of Dukes Lords and members of the Royal Family!

Another highlight of this ‘magical’ cruise is a visit to Warner Brothers Studios where the Harry Potter films were made. Then back to the boat for a ‘film night’ featuring, as if you didnt guess,  Harry Potter!

A visit to the inspiration for Hogwarts, Christ Church College in Oxford, and a tour of the Great Hall, is also included.

This Harry Potter inspired river cruise takes place on various dates in August, and carries 8 passengers and 4 crew. But before you get too excited and get your credit cards out,  the cost of this magical trip into wizardry will set you back a cool $5350 per person! With private hire of the barge priced at $40,000.!

Way out of my price range, and I suspect the price range of most UK Harry Potter fans too!

If Harry Potter isnt for you, there are other Themed Cruises which you may prefer: Dr Who, Star Trek, Walking Dead and of course P&O’s ever popular Strictly Ballroom.

Our Back to the 80’s with Royal Caribbean 06May18 is extremely popular and if you fancy re-living your youth,  give me a call!  https://goo.gl/BbsNbM
