“Squid Ink” Forever

In true Richard Branston  for being different, Virgin Voyages have this week announced that they are planning to add the worlds first Tattoo Studio at sea aboard their brand new “Scarlet lady” called Squid Ink” and they will be offering a variety of services in addition to body art such as piercings and permanent make up.

Scarlet Lady will set sail from Miami in 2020 and the resident state of the art tattoo studio will welcome two full time artist ready to create a range of unique designs. Also keeping with the overall theme of the ship being environmentally friendly, all tattoos will be created using vegan-friendly Perma Blend pigments.

In a statement from the cruise line they said  “Tattooing is a time-honored seafaring tradition, and we’re continuing that legacy with rock and roll style by bringing some of the best ink artists to sea,” said Tom McAlpin, president and chief executive officer for Virgin Voyages. “Our sailors are looking to make lifelong memories, and we think there’s no better way to commemorate their first voyage with us than with a souvenir they’ll never lose track of. The World Famous Tattoo Ink family has been working with sailors, pirates and rock stars for more than 50 years,” said  Lou Rubino Jr., owner of World Famous Tattoo Ink. “As global acceptance of tattoos and body art continues to grow, partnering with Virgin Voyages gives us the unique opportunity to bring colour to places people might have never thought possible before. We couldn’t be more excited to leave our mark on the sea travel industry.”

I have a feeling there will be lots of maiden voyage art work leaving the Scarlet lady come 2020.

Love him or hate him we cannot fault Rich for his original ideas he said this cruise line will be different and certainly living up to that promise.
