Most American cruise lines have their own private island in the Caribbean/Bahamas which they tend to stop on their Caribbean cruises schedule. Cruise line private islands are designed to optimize guest experiences in all ways, so no matter which line you’re on, you’re in for a great experience. Cruise Critic Cruisers’ Choice Destination Award vote for the best one according to cruiser’s feedback on the cruise critic website and they have an award given to the best one year after year. For the second year in a row, Disney Cruise Line’s Castaway Cay in the Bahamas snagged Cruise Critic Cruisers’ Choice Destination Award for top cruise line private island. It doesn’t surprise me at all as Disney Cruise Line is well known for it’s charm and high standards and as a cruise line keeps winning best awards so no surprise there that they are winning this award.With its turquoise waters, countless themed attractions, long list of fun activities and excursions. Cruise lines like Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Princess Cruises, Holland America, and, of course, Disney all have private islands of their own — but none is quite like Disney’s Castaway Cay. I have been before to the Norwegian Cruise Line private island which was very impressive so I can imagine Disney’s. Royal Caribbean has got CocoCay in the Bahamas, Princess has Princess cays, Holland America has Half Moon Cay and Norwegian got Great Stirrup Cay. These slivers of land, either owned or leased by major cruise lines, offer certain staples across the board, from BBQ buffet lunches to water-based shore excursions. But beyond their cookie-cutter similarities, they have evolved over the years to include playgrounds, water parks, bars, shopping areas, nature trails and even tram systems that shuttle visitors to and from.
