P&O announce a new drinks package- deja vu?

P&O have announced a new drinks packages on their cruises which are 5 nights or more from March 2019 onwards. According to P&O it’s following direct feedback from their customers. Have we been in this scenario before? P&O had a drinks package introduced a while back and then they scrapped it after a month I believe so what’s changed? Again according to P&O it’s adding more value to the cruise, or is it? perhaps more value for P&O as you can see from the prices it’s not cheap, so it comes down to how much people drink in general and is it worth it. The ultimate drinks package as they named it will cost £39.95 per person per day ,this will include a large choice of beers, spirits, cocktails, liqueurs and wines by the glass. It will only allow you though drinks up to £6.95 where over that P&O will just give you 20% discount. OK, it’s still cheaper than the American cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean and Celebrity who charges around £55-£60 per person per day but at least they allow you more for that amount. They will also offer a non alcoholic drinks package priced at £19.95 per person per day  This option is also due to be introduced which will feature unlimited bottled water, draught soft drinks, long life juices; Costa coffee; teas; hot chocolates and non-alcoholic cocktails. In addition there will be a hot drinks package at £10.95 per day, This option will entitle guests to unlimited Costa coffee, hot chocolate and teapigs teas and will cost £10.95pp per day. The children drinks package is the best value for me as it’s only £7.95 per day This includes draught soft drinks (Pepsi, lemonade, tonic and soda), selected long life juices, hot chocolate, and fruit squash or cordial by the glass. and it’s complimentary if the adults are purchasing the Ultimate drinks package. That’s a good value for me but would you want your child drinking all that? personally I think water is healthier…. time will tell if this will be successful with P&O passengers.
