Women only and the Solo traveller

I came across this recently that the first Women’s only cruise has been announced. I’m not sexist by any means but is this a bit much? I appreciate everywhere you go there’s women only. You can look up your local swimming bath and they have sessions women only. You can apply for driving lessons and have women only and a female instructor and examiner. Keep fit classes or self defence, again women only classes. I don’t ever see classes for men only. Like I said I’m not sexist and I believe in equal opportunity but are we taking things to far? Are we in danger of separating men from women to an extent where there will be us guys and women and just women. I’m not sure I agree with this one bit. I absolutely agree with the solo traveller wanting cruise lines to do a bit more when it comes to the single passenger wanting or needing to travel alone.

This however I don’t agree with and don’t think it’s fair. What about the many single men who need to go solo? There aren’t any cruises for them. I believe cruises should do more for the solo traveller and why not do a cruise for all single passengers? Male and Female can board and mix and mingle with many other single passengers alike. I agree with what they’re trying to say make it a safe journey for a woman to travel. Well, what’s wrong with a group of mixed people sharing? Why wouldn’t they be considered to be safe in that group? Are they saying the group wouldn’t be safe if they arrange an excursion and you have one or two males on board. My humble opinion is that it’s totally wrong and sending out the wrong message.

Imagine a cruise with all women on board. Would the spa’s and treatments areas be able to cope with the demand? When it comes to formal nights, just ladies looking elegant in their dresses and no males to comment on how good they look. I just think it’s ridiculous. I wouldn’t want to be on a cruise with just men. All gents getting into a tuxedo for a formal night, sitting there and what? Talking about football? This has to be a terrible idea. I’m all up for the solo traveller, men and women travel alone and look to meet fellow singles and other of the same sex or opposite and have things in common. Keeping it to one sex is just not the answer. My opinion of course.

The cruises need to attract the solo traveller, men and women and reduce the single supplement and make cruises affordable and attractive to the solo passenger and not just for women. What do you think? Would you, if a woman go on a women only cruise? Is it just me or am I completely missing something here? Do let me know as it will be interesting to hear other peoples opinions. I’m very much equal opportunities but is this really the way forward? I look forward to your views and what you would like cruise lines to do?
