The Secret Silk

As you may know I had the privilege of sailing onboard the beautiful ship that is the Royal Princess recently.

The ship as you would expect is simply stunning, with the most grand atrium, movies under the stars, Bellinis bar, and the famous Allegro pizza restaurant. All the features you would expect, of Princess cruises and what you have seen on TV on ITVs The Cruise.

Now when we sail with work we are fortunate to be given behind the scenes tours to areas like the galley or the crew area. This time however we were even more fortunate and given a behind the scenes tour of the Princess Theatre at Sea.

The performers were preparing for what is Princess’s brand new show “The Secret Silk”, which just launched onboard last month.

Written by the same writer who wrote Wicked- Stephen Swartz, this story tells the tale of greed and the price you pay, with a mix of brand new songs and some pop songs we already know and love. It certainly had me dancing in my seat and moved by the tale. I am the one always at the West End who is up dancing in the aisles!! Much to my daughters dismay.  Now I do love West End shows but on a cruise I have to say I am not normally a theatre goer- I always find there is so much more going on. But this show had me gripped from start to finish with some amazing singers and dancers, who I might add manage to do a costume change in just 52 seconds!! We must take our hats off to them.

The animatronics and props were as good as any West End stage.

I am a big Princess fan and have sailed on Majestic Princess and Golden Princess in the past – they never fail to disappoint on service, dining and entertainment. So elegant and refined.

So if you havent tried a Princess Cruise yet – you must, get in touch if you would like some advice and inspiration.
