The First Electric Plane in the UK

Fuel and emission is a worldwide problem and with rising emission limits airlines are pushed into looking for alternative renewable energy to supply their aircrafts.

With very crowded skies worldwide did you know planes contribute to the production of eight per cent of the gas emissions? There are long term plans to turn fuelled planes into electric planes with regulations and deadlines from different countries ahead, looking as far as 2030-2040

In the UK, London Heathrow is already offering to waive landing fees to the first airline to schedule regular hybrid electric flights by 2030

The first airline to make medure plans is Easyjet who will be experimenting electric planes as early as this year. The  plane will have a range of 500 km and will be only a 9 seater, from here they will start building bigger and better. It looks like Easyjet will be the first airline to have electric planes in the UK, unless any other airline have plans to sweep this away but it’s highly unlikely. High costs are involved in this tests and with the market being so competitive is going to be tough for a relatively small airline.

Also with the economy being so uncertain due Brexit the future is unclear and to my opinion this decision is coming in as a bit of a risky investment especially with the uncertainty of unknown costs of building materials,

Another factor which can have a big impact on any airline is how easy it will be to get to Europe from the UK and to the UK and how holiday makes could delay their holiday purchase.

I hope Easyjet will breakthrough as the first airline in the UK and can be very successful in their new project as they definitely deserve it for their prompt initiative and bravery.

Proud to have an airline like Easyjet in the UK!!
