Genuine good offers or Misleading offers

Sometimes we come across some genuine good offers and sometimes we don’t!advert mirroradvert wrinkles

When competition is hard some companies try to attract customer’s attention by offering something similar that we have heard before but with added bonuses. Very often companies use misleading wording and or pictures that induce consumers into error. A good example is the picture below, you would think a drinks package is on offer with FREE on board spending money, coach transfer and car parking.  The very first impression I had when I read this advert was free drinks!!!  But I found out later it wasn’t. They aren’t actually saying you are getting a free drinks package but just making it sound like it, just by saying “drinks are on us” which later reveals that there is no drinks package but only the on board credit that you can use to purchase drinks.

So here it’s a little guide on How to avoid misleading adverts:

  •  Read the wording carefully! Some offers can fool you with some clever and deceiving wording
  •  Misuse of the word free! Carefully compare prices with those offers that don’t offer any extra “free” perks
  •  Check the offer inside out. Read the offer in detail and if you are not sure of what the wording means don’t assume, and make sure you ask the question however daft it may sound.
  • Always read the small prints. This often reveals guidelines and/or restrictions to the applicable offer.
  • Check prices. More often than not, you may find an offer with a range of travelling dates. You will find that the price advertised is only valid for one date only.
  • Always ask for details in writing. Ask for a simple quote stating what you get and most importantly what you don’t get in plain English.
  • Check if offers are combinable. More often than not offers are not combinable but it’s not always clear.
