Drastic incident at sea and here’s the happy ending

Too often we hear about people who have gone overboard, some get rescued but the sad truth is most get lost at sea and are not found.

This largely depends if it happens during the day or at night, from which part of the ship it happens, how many hours later it’s realised a passenger is missing and massively on water temperatures. No one is quiet sure why and how these accidents happen but often it’s due to irresponsible behavior. Please always be safe and don’t attempt silly actions because consequences can be fatal. You tube is full of videos of people trying to be funny putting their lives in great danger just for the sake of being popular.

A few days ago Disney saved the life of a passenger who went overboard by launching an immediate rescue and was assisted by the Coast Guard airplane. It is not known how he went overboard but the operation took less than an hour and the man was offered medical assistance on board. This was such a lucky escape and the man is now reunited with his family. The incident happened on the 4th May just west of Grand Bahama Island where Disney Dream was returning to Port Canaveral during a four night cruise to the Bahamas, following a stop in Nassau and the cruise line’s private island, Castaway Cay. Crew members of the Disney Dream received credits for their efficiency and competency during the emergency.

A similar story happened two years ago when a passenger fell overboard from the Oasis of the Sea and crew members of Disney Magic managed to save his life successfully. Luckily Disney Magic was going past the same route and saw the passenger at sea but often is not the case and it’s not until hours later that members on board realise a passenger is missing which at that point is too late. The large rate of success of rescue on board Disney ships is given by the automatic man overboard system which automatically alerts the bridge when a passenger goes overboard

Legally cruise ships have to comply with established procedures but the efficiency of the staff plays a large role so a massive well done to Disney

Let me know what your thoughts are and if you have ever witnessed any worrying situations on board a cruise
