Many ships are launching in 2017, there is a good variety of sizes, quality, price and types of ships. I have made a list in order of size from big to small, have a read.

She will hold 3900 passengers and will be 164.600 Tons. She will be one of the biggest ships at sea. She will be launching in summer 2017, date yet to be confirmed. The unique additions are the Kart track, the double loop water slide and the luxurious area called The Haven consisting in 74 suites surrounding a private courtyard and pool.

MSC Meraviglia and MSC Seaside

We have heard a lot of talk about the new MSC Meraviglia and Seaside project. First one is launching in 2017 and it’s the biggest of MSC cruise fleet carrying 4500 passengers and 167,600 tons. This sounds a bit like a Royal Caribbean ship with a promenade with a 480 sq. meter LED screen for a ceiling. The ship will have a theatre venue created specifically to accommodate spectacular productions from Cirque du Soleil. Other interesting additions are the karaoke bar, comedy club and TV studio, and a full-sized two-lane bowling alley. This brand new ships are going to change the opinion of the public with their revolutionized entertainment which MSC may have lacked of before. Meraviglia will sail the Mediterranean from July 2017. The MSC Seaside will debut in December and will be sailing from Miami where will be based all year round. It is designed to offer more outdoor living style to her guests with bars and restaurants offering outdoor seating to enjoy. She will hold 4140 guests and it is 154.000 tons.

Tui Discovery 2

Previously owned by Royal Caribbean and known as the Legend of the Seas. Thomson’s plan will be to take the American excesses out of the ship and cater for British tastes when it comes to food, entertainment. It will be an interesting addition to Thomson’s fleet as they can offer a good looking medium sized ship along with their good reputation for dining and entertainment to suit the British public.

Viking Sky and Viking Sun

Offering interesting and different itineraries they will join a fast growing fleet with the identical design as the recently launched Viking Sea and Viking Star. These ships will carry a total of 930 passengers and will be 47,800 tons in size. They claim to be featuring the best observation lounges at sea.

Silver Muse

Launching in April in Monaco, Silver Muse continues Silversea’s style of being small but perfectly formed offering their guest a unique luxurious experience. The ship carries 596 guests in all-suite accommodation, just 56 more than Silver Spirit, the line’s current flagship.

On this ship the sense of space is enhanced by the small amount of passengers on board.

Seaborne Encore

A slight step up in size from Seabourn’s three current ships, which each carry 450 passengers, Encore accommodates 604 guests and it is 40,360 tons. Modern interiors designed by Adam Tihany. Menu’s in The Grill restaurant are masterminded by Michelin-starred chef Thomas Keller. The ship is being built in Italy and will be christened in Singapore in January, and Master of the vessel is Captain Mark Dexter, familiar to British passengers who have cruised with Swan Hellenic and Hebridean Island Cruises.

Flying Clipper

Launching in December she is a real sailing boat with the size of a ship powered by 35 sails across 5 masts which will only run on engine when there is no sufficient wind to speed the ship. She is the largest sailing boat which will offer accommodation for 300 guests and is 8,770 tons. Will have 3 pools on board one of which is glass bottomed to filter light into the main dining room. This is a perfectly safe option for those who want a real sailing experience. They are known for tailoring their itineraries to their on board guests requests and changing their itineraries based on weather disruptions

What an exciting 2017 is going to be for cruise lovers!! I don’t know about you but I am very excited about these launches as of course this means a visit of two for me to any of these.
