Windy Weston carnival

I’ve always fancied going to Rio to see their fantastic carnival but have never quite made it yet, however until a couple of years ago I had no idea we had such spectacular carnivals in the UK. The carnival in my home town of Bromsgrove used to be great fun years ago with up to 40 floats full of local businesses and organisations all raising money for local charities. Now due to fantastic health and safety regulations we have resulted to pushing shopping trollies down the high street, quite pathetic hence the reason why we don’t attend anymore

Last weekend we headed down to Weston-Super-Mare for their annual carnival. To say the weather was bad would be an understatement, how the dancers on the floats did not pass out from the freezing conditions,  I have no idea. We attended the carnival for the first time two years ago and this year persuaded a group of our friends to come too. Even though it rained and rained we still had a fantastic time. The carnival moves around the south of the UK over a few weeks and puts on a fabulous two hour procession with floats displaying the biggest lighting rigs you have ever seen, energetic dancing, vibrant costumes and great music.

If you have never been take a look at what you’re missing, I can certainly recommend it for a great night out, may see you there next year, hopefully without the rain.
