Fire on Black Watch

Not Good News for Fred Olsen this week with one of there ships having a fire on board. Fred Olsen cruise ship Black Watch had a fire, this started in the Engine room on Friday morning and was extinguished by the crew. There were no injuries and the captain Henrik Mattsson has reported that passengers are in good spirits. But this has caused some of the engines to not work which means that the ship can’t go any further than where they are now which is Funchal Madeira, the cruise ship managed to get to Funchal on the engines that were working but this means the customer’s have been here since Friday/Saturday.

Fred Olsen has organised three private charter flights to depart today from Funchal to London Stansted and London Gatwick airports. The cruise line will also assist passengers with transfer arrangements for the onward journey and special arrangements have been made for those who are unable to fly due to medical reason.

Fred Olsen have had to do this due to some cabling damage on board, which is affecting lighting and communications, but all other services have been working as normal, some of the cabins have had no electricity, hot water or working toilets so  Fred Olsen have made the decision to let customer’s go home and have offered them a Full refund as well as any reasonable out of pocket expenses connected with the curtailment of there holiday, also in addition to this Fred Olsen will offer a future cruise voucher of up to 50 per cent fare paid, to be used within its current cruise program.

Fred Olsen are hoping that all four main engines will be under way shortly so that they can get passengers who are booked on her next sailing on the 08/07/16 from Tilbury going to the Norwegian Fjords.

I think Fred Olsen have been dealing with this very good its no fault of the cruise company these things happen and at least they are dealing with it in the right way.
