Multi Million Pound Makeover for Norwegian Jade

JADE-At-Sea-1

Great news for British cruise passengers as Norwegian Cruise Lines announce plans for a multi million pound upgrade for their older ships.
They will be spending $400 million to update their older ships and bring them in line with their Breakaway class of ships.
The bright Hawaiian themed décor will be replaced with more subtle and classic colours such as creams and neutral colours to give a more contemporary look.
At the end of the Mediterranean season people were starting to comment on the ship looking tired and being in need of a refurbishment. The Jade will be cruising from Southampton next year so this has come at just the right time for us Brits. With so many new ships debuting from Southampton we have been spoilt for choice and our expectations have been raised. With the new plans in place I am sure we will be snapping up the chance to cruise with NCL without having to fly.
So apart from the décor and a change to fixtures and fittings what else can you expect to have changed ?
My favourite new feature is the Cavern Club live music bar, obviously named after the famous club in Liverpool. This is a brilliant idea and I am sure will be a very popular venue.
They are also taking guidance from sister brand Oceania Cruises with regards to their dining. The restaurant’s will be modernized and they will be using more expensive ingredients leading to a much better menu selection.
The decision to improve the food quality was taken to make the line more upmarket and their chef’s have had training from the American Culinary Federation.
The $400 million will be invested into making these improvements on all of their older ships and also invested in their private Islands.
NCL are a fantastic product and I can’t wait to see the changes on Jade next year.
