Clever marketing ?

The American circus arrived in Leicester last week so I knew that meant the kids would start pestering me again to take them.

I have always refused to take them to any circus that have animals but this wasn’t one of them so I thought it might be something we could do over the Easter holidays.

I had a leaflet that had the prices printed with a heading saying 50% off so off we went thinking we were getting a bargain. When we got to the box office I was told that the prices listed already had the 50% taken off so it was actually double what we thought it would be.

With the kids standing there excited waiting to go in we didn’t have much choice but to pay the double fare. I wasn’t impressed especially as I wasn’t keen about going in the first place.

I have to say though that I really enjoyed it and it was definitely worth the money. Circus acts have come a long way since I went as a child and Emily and Georgia loved every minute. The opening and closing acts were amazing and had you on the edge of your seats.

They loved Ozzy the clown and had their photograph taken with him at the end.

I am glad we went because I may not have done had I known the full price. This is obviously a marketing ploy to get people in because nobody paid the full price anyway as they had stacks of these leaflets lined up on the ticket desk. We are so careful with our advertising not to mislead our customers and although sometimes there can be confusion we don’t deliberately try to fool people.

If you are thinking of taking a cruise and want a complete price give me a call and I will give you a price without any hidden extras.
