Cruising with your bike

I was chatting to a passenger of mine the other day who just returned from a cruise and one of the things he mentioned was he was disappointed that they didn’t have any bicycles on the ship for hire.  I told him that this isn’t something that the cruise lines really do although there are some river cruise lines that keep bicycles on board for passenger use.

A use for Royal Caribbean’s “Wow wristband” once you get home

I was really impressed with Royal Caribbean’s new ship the Anthem of the Seas when I recently got chance to sail on her 2 night pre-inaugural voyage.  One of the main features of Royal Caribbean’s new Quantum Class of ships is the fact that they are “smart ships”.  Royal Caribbean have certainly made quite an effort to use modern technology to make the cruisers experience better. Humans vs robots…

One of the new features of Royal Caribbean’s Quantum class ships is that they have some robotic bar tenders serving drinks.  I have to say that even though I love all of my gadgets and modern technology I am not that exited or impressed by this. The reason being is I feel you just can’t beat a decent bar maid.  In my mind there is no competition between a robot and a pretty barmaid like the one pictured above.
