When P&O released it’s 2016 cruises a couple of months ago the Adonia wasn’t listed, P&O said that they would be doing something different with the Adonia which would be announced later on. They have finally made their announcement and they are going to be doing something called Fathom with the Adonia, so what’s that all about ?

I was chatting to a passenger of mine the other day who just returned from a cruise and one of the things he mentioned was he was disappointed that they didn’t have any bicycles on the ship for hire. I told him that this isn’t something that the cruise lines really do although there are some river cruise lines that keep bicycles on board for passenger use.

I was really impressed with Royal Caribbean’s new ship the Anthem of the Seas when I recently got chance to sail on her 2 night pre-inaugural voyage. One of the main features of Royal Caribbean’s new Quantum Class of ships is the fact that they are “smart ships”. Royal Caribbean have certainly made quite an effort to use modern technology to make the cruisers experience better. Features include super fast wifi, smart checking in on tablets, booking activities on the ship with an app, robotic bartenders, virtual balconies and more.

I have just returned from the Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas 2 night pre-inaugural cruise and all I can say is wow, this ship is awesome!
This brand new ship is the second Quantum Class ship that Royal Caribbean have produced, it is very large and modern, in fact Royal Caribbean call it a “smart ship”.

We went on the NCL Spirit on the 6th March for a 10 night cruise. The cruise started in Barcelona, called at various ports in Spain, Madeira and the Canary Islands before returning to Barcelona. My first and overall comment is that this cruise was fantastic. My opinion was probably influenced by the fact that the weather was lovely – warm and sunny with calm seas – for virtually the whole cruise, nevertheless the whole experience was great as I will explain below.

I was fortunate enough to have sailed on the new P&O Britannia last week for the two night pre-inaugural sailing.
I still haven’t had time to write in more depth what I thought about P&O’s newest, largest and most extravagant ship so I thought I would do this post about this self service beer machine which I found in the buffet area.

One of the new features of Royal Caribbean’s Quantum class ships is that they have some robotic bar tenders serving drinks. I have to say that even though I love all of my gadgets and modern technology I am not that exited or impressed by this. The reason being is I feel you just can’t beat a decent bar maid. In my mind there is no competition between a robot and a pretty barmaid like the one pictured above.

So finally the Captain of the Concordia Francesco Schettino had been found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to 16 years.
He was in fact given ten years for manslaughter, five for causing a shipwreck, one for abandoning ship and a further month for giving false information to port authorities.
